Sarah is a native of Manitoba, Canada. She has had extensive performing experience including the world renowned ensembles BYU Women’s Chorus, under the direction of Jean Applonie, and the BYU Concert Choir, under direction of Rosalind Hall and Dr. Brent Wells. During these years in choir she has had the opportunity of performing twice at the American Choral Directors Association Conference (ACDA). She has also sung with world renowned singers and ensembles Tenebrae and Colbie Callait. In 2017 she studied French, culture and art in Paris for three months.
She has been in many musicals including All Shook Up, Zombie Prom, Sherlock Holmes and played Cinderella in Into the Woods. She was selected to compete in the Manitoba Provincial Festival four times, placing second in her performance of An Chloe by Mozart.
Sarah has 10 years of vocal training and 14 years of piano training. She received her grade 8 piano and advanced theory rudiments from the Royal Canadian Conservatory of Music. Along with voice and piano she plays guitar, ukulele, and beginner flute. Sarah’s true passion is evident through teaching. She has had the opportunity to teach first grade music classes at Rocky Mountain Elementary school and help with an elementary choir at Hobble Creek Elementary school in Utah.
She is in her final year of finishing her BM of General Music Education at Brigham Young University. She has studied voice with Bambi Rutherford, Judy Oatway, and Michele Scott. She has studied vocal pedagogy with Dr. Jennifer Youngs. She also studied diction and performance with Dr. Robert Brandt, Daryl Babbidge, and Dr. Diane Reich. When Sarah finishes her undergrad at BYU she plans to continue her education and receive a Masters in Music Therapy.
